On Thursday, 19 February, courts employees are holding a strike. Employees of all 62 district and regional courts in Slovakia, some 3700 employees, are taking part in the action and around 500 of them are participating at protest gatherings in the capital Bratislava. The protesters are calling for a budget increase for the Justice Ministry by 25 percent, better material equipment and manpower for the daily running of courts, an immediate adoption of a law on the position of justice employees and for the improvement of their socio-economic situation. Courts are running on Thursday on an emergency mode.
