Banking sector profits rose by 5.1 percent or €14 million in year-on-year terms over the first half of this year. The Slovak Banking Association attributes this improvement to favourable revenues from trading. The profit of the sector improved for the third month in a row this year. Beforehand, since January 2012 until March 2013, the profitability of the sector had been dropping.
The association says that bad news for the sector is that net interest incomes as the main source of banks’ revenue have been falling in year-on-year terms for the thirteenth month in a row.
