Prime Minister meets with Anti-Corruption Initiative representatives

Prime Minister Robert Fico met with the signatories of the Initiative for the Rule of Law that represents the joint initiative of 14 business associations, employers and trade chambers on Monday. The purpose of the initiative is to bolster the rule of law as a defining character of Slovakia. According to the released text, the incumbent Cabinet accepted the commitments stemming from the initiative on January 14, 2015, when it approved the material submitted by Prime Minister Robert Fico entitled the Activities to Bolster Rule of Law in the Slovak Republic. Subsequently, the Government tasked the Interior Minister, Justice Minister and Government Office head to submit documentation - in cooperation with representatives of the initiative and involved organisations - for drafting individual parts of the Action Plan. The objective is to bolster the transparency and predictability of the legislative process. Curbing corruption as a negative and hurtful factor for Slovakia's reputation and transparent and effective judiciary as a firm basis for operations of both domestic and foreign investors were highlighted during the discussion.
