The ceasefire in Ukraine that has been in place since Sunday midnight is very fragile and will require further diplomatic efforts to avoid a major war from erupting, Vice-president of the European Commission in charge of Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič said on RTVS's political talk show on Sunday. "When one sees how the artillery was used only a few hours before there should have been peace, then it's evident that this whole ceasefire is very fragile. If it doesn't turn out well, we may see a major conflict emerge," said Šefčovič. He described the recent Minsk agreement as a good attempt to prevent a conflict, but he noted that there's already been one such agreement, which eventually went awry. Moreover, Šefčovič doesn't agree with supplying Kiev with arms. "If we begin with this, the other side will do the same. There will be a race on who'll be better armed, and so we could expect bigger clashes and more casualties," he explained.
