The number of weddings in Slovakia is falling gradually, Poštová Banka states in an analysis released on the occasion of Saint Valentine's Day (14 February). The highest number of weddings in the past ten years was recorded in 2008, and the number has been falling since then. It also became evident that people are now entering matrimony older than before. Meanwhile, the divorce rate is still relatively high, although the ratio of 48 divorces per 100 weddings in 2009 was reduced to 43 per 100 in 2013. "While 70 weddings were celebrated each day of the year on average, there were almost 30 divorces each day," said Poštová Banka analyst Jana Glasová.
