On Thursday, after 15 hours of negotiations, Russian President Putin informed about an agreement reached on a ceasefire in Eastern Ukraine. This happened at a meeting in Minsk between the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President François Hollande, Ukrainian President Petro Porošenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin. As Putin stated, the ceasefire should come into effect on Saturday, 14 February. According to their agreement, by the end of the year Ukraine is to put in place a constitutional reform which will include the future status of the Donetsk and Luhansk areas. The agreement also defines the demarcation line which will divide the heavy arms of the rebel groups and of the state forces.
