The conditions for teaching English in Slovakia, particularly at primary schools, are poor, according to a survey carried out among English language teachers conducted by the British Council in Slovakia. According to the poll, 95 percent of the respondents think that there is an absence of systematic additional education for teachers, while they also complain that they lack proper training in making their students more active. Furthermore, more than 80 percent of teachers think that they aren't involved enough in the creation of new textbooks and even a higher number claims that they lack comprehensive teaching materials. Nearly two-thirds of the teachers admitted that they currently use no online resources. More than a half of them don't use any other offline digital content. In addition, teachers would welcome the option to spend some time in an English-speaking country in order to boost their language skills, as only some 20 percent of them consider themselves to be confident speakers of the language.
