Military reserves coming for possible use in Bosnia

As in the past, Slovakia will form military reserves for the EUFOR ALTHEA operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina this year, the Government stated on Wednesday. A total of 125 professional soldiers will be in combat readiness as a mechanised company until the end of 2015. A unit trained with 2014 in mind will be ready for combat in the period between February 1 to March 31. A new unit will take over after this, from April 1 until the end of 2015. This unit will be trained in Slovakia and will take part in international training activities including in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Slovakia had instantly available reserves for EUFOR ALTHEA in 2013 and 2014. The security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina meant that the troops weren't required, however. Slovakia's armed forces have been engaged in the EUFOR ALTHEA operation since its launch in 2004. Currently, there are 36 Slovak soldiers serving in the mission, one of whom works at NATO military headquarters in Sarajevo.
