Former Finance Minister Ivan Mikloš sets retirement date

The right wing of Slovak politics has been the scene for infighting and a plethora of new parties and now it will never be the same, as former Finance Minister and SDKU-DS vice-chair Ivan Mikloš doesn't expect to stay in politics after the 2016 general election, although he concedes that life is unpredictable. "I don't plan to run. But you know how life is, never say never," Mikloš, 54. He added that he has no plans to join any political party. The former vice-premier concedes that the right-wing scene is in a less than ideal state at the moment. "The right-wing seems to be hopeless," replied Mikloš to the question as to whether any rival can become popular enough to challenge the governing Smer-SD.
