Sanctions against Russia are aimed at bringing all the parties concerned to the negotiating table and at finding an appropriate political solution to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák told TASR in an interview on Friday. Lajčák went on to say that he can see a potential settlement of the crisis in Ukraine in the implementation of a memorandum on a peace plan for the conflict reached by pro-Russian rebels and the Ukrainian Government in Minsk in September 2014. He observed that Russia, Ukraine and the European Union agree that the document is a principal one, but Moscow and Kiev have accused each other of breaching the agreement. This should be discussed at the Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels on Monday.
