Commemorating 70 years since the massacre in Kľak and Ostrý Grúň

On Sunday the inhabitants of the villages of Kľak and Ostrý Grúň as well as some political representatives and anti-fascism fighters commemorated the 148 victims of Bloody Sunday, the most tragic event in the history of these villages. During the 2nd world war, the people of Kľak and Ostrý Grúň, villages located in the mountains, assisted partisans hiding in the surroundings. They paid a heavy toll for their acts, as on 21st January, 1945, anti-partisan commando Edelweiss burned down the villages and murdered most of its inhabitants. The youngest of the victims was just three months old, and the oldest 89 years.
