€6.57 bn in taxes collected in 2014

The tax bureaux collected a total of €6.57 billion, amounting to a year-on-year rise of €287 million or 5 percent in 2014. The money represents income for the state budget as well as budgeting of towns, villages and regions (VUCs). "The largest 35-percent share in the collection consists of VAT tax, which brought state coffers a total of €2.3 billion. It is also the VAT collection that recorded the greatest success and highest y-o-y growth of 12 percent or €240 million," said Financial Administration spokesperson Patrícia Macíková. More than one-third of the money was collected by Bratislava Tax Bureau that saw the overall sum of €2.3 billion and highest yields from VAT. The runner-up became the Tax Bureau for Selected Taxpayers with a 22.3 percent share, recording highest tax collection from income of companies. The state income from running lotteries amounted to €146 million, representing a y-o-y rise by 9 percent.
