In an attempt to intensify the relations with neighbouring Ukraine, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico proposed joined meetings of the Cabinets of the two countries. A meeting of selected ministers from Slovakia and Ukraine was scheduled for 5th February close to the borders, in order for a part of meetings to happen in Slovakia - in Sobrance and a part in Ukraine - in Užhorod. However Ukraine asked to change the location to Kiev. So for now, this joint meeting of Cabinets is turning into a visit of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to Kiev on 5th February. Accompanying Prime Minister Fico will be Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák. Lajčák claims the idea of the joined governmental session is not cancelled, only postponed.
