The 15th Opera Ball at the Slovak National Theatre's historical Opera House on Hviezdoslavovo Square in Bratislava commenced this year's ball season on Saturday night. The ball itself was opened by the British singer and composer Rick Astley in what was actually the first time that a male celebrity had been given the role. "Anniversaries require that you come up with something new, something exceptional. The biggest new thing is that the main star of the ball is not a woman, but a man," said Andrea Cocherová, director of the Opera Ball, which brings together the elite of Slovak public and political life, culture and show business.
