Motorways & railway modernisation priorities for 2015

The construction of new motorways and the modernisation of main railway corridors will be among the main priorities for the Transport, Construction and Regional Development Ministry in 2015. "We also expect larger investments into the modernisation of first-category roads this year", said ministry spokesman Martin Kóňa, adding that this will mainly concern roads that are part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) in areas without motorway infrastructure. As projects funded from the finishing EU funding period (2007-2013) are being concluded, and at the same time as projects funded from the new funding period (2014-2020) are being contracted, it is expected that road and railway construction will be intensified in 2015. "It should even surpass the current historical highs", added Kóňa.
