Police charge man after a year of collecting evidence

After collecting evidence, Žilina police officers have finally laid charges regarding the death of 47-year-old man from Kysucké Nové Mesto, whom died in November 2013 due to falling off a balcony at a fourth-floor apartment. According to Jana Balogová, the spokesperson for the Regional Police in Žilina, the evidence suggests that the deceased man was attacked by his then 24-year-old son who had the intention of killing his father. The dead man suffered fatal injuries from impacting the pavement. The investigator in the case has reclassified the crime as manslaughter, caused by the deceased's son. According to the information gathered, it was not uncommon for the father and son to quarrel, often resulting in physical assault between the two. The prosecutor of the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Žilina filed an indictment against the defendant for the crime of murder. "If found guilty, the accused could face imprisonment from between 20 to 25 years", concluded Balogová.
