The formal inauguration of the Slovak Historical Institute in Rome will take place on Monday in the premises of the Slovak Embassy. Speaker of the Slovak Parliament, Peter Pellegrini, will take part in this event together with other representatives of the Slovak and Italian scientific and cultural scene. According to Marek Púčik, secretary of the Institute, the Slovak scientists have for years sought to establish their own historical institution in Rome, and the absence of such an institution has caused great harm for Slovak science altogether. The institute was established by law, which came into force in 2014. Its main task is to organize systematic research of archives and book collections related to Slovakia stored in Italy and at the Vatican.
