Former General Prosecutor Dobroslav Trnka is leaving his current post of Deputy General Prosecutor, as is Ladislav Tichý who was the first deputy in the offices. This is the decision of the newly appointed Prosecutor General Jaromír Čižnár. As Čižnár claims Trnka himself asked to be removed from the post. Čižnár emphasized that there is no major “cleaning“ going on in the office.
For now it is not known who will take the deputy General Prosecutor post. Čižnár denied that he has offered the post to Jozef Čentéš, who was the elected to the post in Parliament – by the former coalition government, before Čižnár, but President Ivan Gašparovič refused to appoint him into the post. Čižnár claims Čentéš can run for the deputy post in a standard competition. For now, Čižnár did not want to specify any changes that are to take place in the Prosecutor General’s Office. However, he has made public, that his priority is the fight against tax evasion and domestic violence.
