Slovakia’s Food Safety is the Worst in Eastern Europe

Slovakia is doing poorly in food safety, according to the Global Food Security Index performed for the Economist. Researchers have compiled an annual chart of countries by food safety. Experts evaluated prices, availability and quality of foodstuffs. The United States is at the top of table, while Slovakia placed 37th; the worst position in Eastern Europe.

The weakest points listed for Slovakia were the self sufficiency of the country to supply food products, a high risk of disconnecting the food supply and the distribution of food. On the other hand, Slovakia’s nutrition standard was evaluated positively. The Czech Republic ended up 23rd, and Poland 27th.
