The 2015-2017 state budget puts further financial burdens on businesses and involves insufficient efforts to curb public spending, according to the Slovak Entrepreneurs Association. Its head, Jan Oravec says that due to the legislative amendments included in the budget, public administration revenues from taxes and levies will increase by approximately half a billion euro each year in the period concerned, with most of this amount to be collected from entrepreneurs. "The Government is set to collect €250 million because it has kept the VAT rate at 20 percent. This is despite the pledge to which the state obliged itself via legislation that it would lower VAT to 19 percent if the deficit dropped below 3 percent", said Oravec.
