The car is the most frequently used means of transport for getting to work and for shopping in Slovakia, with as many as 46 percent of Slovaks using it, according to the data of a recent Eurobarometer study. Only 3 percent of Slovaks use trains as a common means of transport, which is almost half the figure for bikes. According to the Eurofound foundation, Slovaks spend a total of 93 minutes on average commuting to work and back home again. If the time spent going to the shops and picking up children from school, for example, is included, the average Slovak spends more than two hours a day "travelling".
