IVO: Quality of Democracy Slipped in First Half of 2013

The quality of democracy in Slovakia reached the mark of 2.9 in the first half of this year, a slight decrease by 0.1 points year-on-year, shows the Barometer of the Institute for Public Affairs, a think-tank based in Bratislava. It has been evaluating the quality of democracy in Slovakia in key areas since 2008 with 1 being the top mark and 5 the worst.

The field faring worst in the current survey was human and minority rights (3.1 grade), outperformed by independent media (3), democratic institutions, the rule of law (2.9 both), and legislation (2.6).
