Inhabitants of Bánovce nad Bebravou, Uhrovec and Nitrianske Sučany (all Nitra region) felt a minor earthquake in late Saturday evening. The earthquake, with a local magnitude of 2.5 on the Richter scale, was confirmed also by Geophysical Department of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) in Bratislava.
Valaská Belá village mayor Milos Cucik claimed that the earthquake struck around 10.15 p.m. "Houses shook with the vibration. It was like an explosion and then even the floor trembled shortly," he described.
