The ultimately unsuccessful candidate for the role of Prosecutor General Jozef Čentéš wants financial compensation from the state, according to the Hospodárske Noviny daily. This announcement follows President Ivan Gašparovič controversially naming Jaromír Čižnár as the successful candidate despite Čentéš being voted into the position in June of 2011 with the votes of 79 of the 89 present members of the National Council.
After the vote, President Ivan Gašparovič blocked Čentéš’ appointment to the Prosecutor General position declaring the appointment to be heavily politicised, according to the Presidential spokesperson Marek Trubač. The case is now before the Constitutional Court.
