President Gives Go-Ahead to Higher Salaries for Doctors

Doctors working in institutional health care facilities can expect to see the third stage of their pay rises which was achieved during the previous government of Iveta Radičová (SDKU-DS) in a memorandum in 2011. President Ivan Gašparovič signed an amendment to the Health Insurance Act which governs this third stage of the increase in doctors’ salaries divided between 2014 and 2015.

Specialists next year should earn at least €20,261 in total, and subsequently from 2015 at least €22,715. The annual salaries of their non-specialised colleagues should be at least €12,060 as of next year. The costs of the increased wages are expected to be borne by health insurance companies and health care providers.
