The unemployment rate remains high in OECD countries, hitting an average of 8.1% last year. Almost 50 million people are without jobs in these countries and the trend in the development of unemployment is to vary in countries of the OECD.
While 6 countries of the eurozone, including France, Italy, and Slovenia are to see a rise in the number of people without jobs, 5 countries, including Slovakia are to see this number decrease by half of a percentage point at least, predicts the OECD. Most people affected by the loss of a job are young men with low qualifications and skills and the probability of long-term unemployment is growing in many countries.
