All types of elections in Slovakia should be governed in the future by a single law, of which its wording has been prepared by the Interior Ministry. It would thus replace six existing laws that include several differences.
Political parties will be able to spend a maximum of €3 million on their election campaigns, with presidential candidates half a million euro at the most, and independent candidates for chairmen of self-governing counties no more than €250,000. The law which is to come into effect as of January 2014 introduces transparent bank accounts which also the public would be able to monitor online and receiving financial gifts will only be possible via a bank transfer to the transparent bank account.
