The Slovak track and field athlete Martin Kucera won Universiade gold in the men's 400m hurdles event. The winner finished in 49.79 seconds, having set a Universiade record, R-Sport reports. Silver went to Amadou Ndiaye of Senegal (+0.11). Ian Dewhurst placed third (+0.17). After the race, the Slovak athlete told he was surprised by his own victory.
"It is difficult to describe what I feel because my victory came as a surprise to me and I am happy. For me, this is the first Universiade and I thought that I will reach only the semi-finals, but I won and it is absolutely amazing! Now I am overwhelmed with emotions."
