The 17th year of Bažant Pohoda, Slovakia’s largest open-air music festival starts today in the grounds of the airport in the town of Trenčín. The programme, which will last until early Sunday morning will take place across six music stages and in several indoor arenas designed for dance music, workshops, and also theatre performances, literature readings and debates.
Among the most anticipated performers to be found are the Australian formation of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, the British “super group” Atoms For Peace, and the Smashing Pumpkins from the U.S. The British guitar scene will be represented by the Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, and Django Django. For fans of electronic music, organisers have prepared concerts by artists such as Justice, Amon Tobin, and Major Laser. One of the biggest attractions is the grouping of Cuban musicians The Buena Vista Social Club.
