President Refused to Sign Amendment

President Ivan Gašparovič did not sign the amendment to the Penal Code which he had recently returned to parliament for renewed discussion.

Lawmakers ultimately approved the legal norm despite the president’s veto while they complied with one of the president’s three objections. The amendment will thus come into effect without the signature of the president.
