Prime Minister Robert Fico wants more Flexibility with Eurofunds

The European Commission (EC) should introduce to EU member states a new set of rules for drawing eurofunds, stated Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on Wednesday during his visit to Berlin where he is attending an international conference on the employment of young people. Fico further claims he expects the EC to come up with a very strict set of rules of how to use finances for purpose, however he feels there should be more flexibility in the support of employment of the young.

According to Fico Slovakia plans to draw up to €270 million from eurofunds and another €70 million from other programs for creating job opportunities for young people. These should be short-term measures, such as the state paying for a part of the salary of a young person. However, he agrees with the fact that we need structural reforms in this area as well.
