Salaries of doctors are to go up again also in the years 2014 – 2015. This is a part of the agreement Health Minister Zuzana Zvolenská and the Doctors Trade Union Association closed, raising salaries of doctors in a number of stages. Health Ministry state secretary Viliam Čislák claims this rise which was approved in Parliament on Wednesday is simply carrying out the promises of the previous government. It will be the job of the individual hospitals to find money for the salary hikes, added Čislák.
The salaries will be increased in two phases. As of January 2014, doctors in training will receive 1.25-times the average salary in the national economy, and fully qualified doctors 2.1-times the average salary. Salaries of fully qualified doctors will be further increased to 2.3-times the average salary as of 2015. These salary hikes will require an extra of €30 million annually.
