Viktor Stromček, the State Secretary for Transport has announced a completion date of 1 January, 2019 for the highway between the city of Bratislava in Western Slovakia, and the city of Kosice in Eastern Slovakia. The transport secretary is so confident that the date will be adhered to that he is offering to lose a month’s salary (approximately €3,200) if it is not completed in time.
When asked about the proposed wager Mr Stromček replied, “Yes, I'd wager it, however it’s not my money, rather the priorities which Slovakia has. We believe that this date is possible and we’ll manage this highway until it’s finished".
