Rating agency Standard & Poor’s has confirmed Slovakia’s credit rating at A with a stable outlook. Finance Minister Ladislav Kamenický (Smer-SD) welcomed the decision, saying it reflects investor confidence and the country’s continued access to financial markets. However, analyst Marián Kočiš from Slovenská sporiteľňa warned that Slovakia still faces high budget deficits of around five percent of GDP, weak economic growth and rising debt servicing costs. Opposition parties also criticised the government, stressing that three rounds of fiscal consolidation have failed to improve public finances.
