The number of people in Slovakia working more than one job has almost doubled in five years, according to Eurostat. In 2025, 44,700 people held multiple jobs, up from 22,700 in 2020. The figure rose by a further 5,600 over the past year.
Katarína Garajová, head of recruitment agency Maxin’s Group, says people are increasingly looking for weekend shifts and short-term work to supplement their income. She says this raises questions about whether earnings from a main job are enough to cover living costs. However, she warns that working multiple jobs can lead to fatigue, affecting performance, concentration and safety, particularly in physically demanding sectors. Despite the increase, Slovakia remains below the EU average for multiple jobholders.
