Concession-owning companies have already put 236 ultra-fast chargers for electric cars and lorries in operation along motorways and expressways, Economy Minister Denisa Sakova (Hlas-SD) announced on Wednesday.
The Economy Ministry, through its organisation MH Invest, launched a call for tenders to select concession companies to build these charging points at the end of April 2025. The concession was divided into three groups of locations. One group was awarded to ZSE, the second to OMV and the third to ejoin operator. According to Sakova, the state is set to receive approximately €46 million from the concession, which was announced and signed for a period of 16 years.
Transport Minister Jozef Ráž (a Smer-SD nominee) explained that the charging points are located at 33 sites, for which 33 substations also had to be built or refurbished. "We're talking about 65 megawatts that have been introduced to the motorways so that we can develop electric mobility," added Ráž.
