Foreigners Can also Vote in Local Elections If They Meet Certain Conditions

Foreign nationals may also exercise their right to vote in the combined local and regional elections due to take place on Saturday (24 October), provided they meet the conditions stipulated by law, the Police Corps Presidium has posted on social media.

Foreigners who hold a valid permanent residence permit in Slovakia and possess a foreign national's residence card are eligible to participate in the elections.

When checking their residence documents, foreign nationals should pay particular attention to the entry in the field labelled "Druh pobytu/Type of permit", which must state "trvaly" (permanent). Merely residing in Slovakia, without meeting this specific condition, is not sufficient to exercise the right to vote.
