Starting in January, maximum sickness benefits will increase. The most significant rise should be seen in maternity benefits — the upper limit will increase by nearly 150 euros, reaching just under 2,500 euros per month. However, the actual amount paid out is much lower; in the first half of the year, it averaged just under 1,120 euros. To qualify for the maximum benefit, an assessment base approximately twice as high as last year’s average wage—specifically 3,240 euros—is required.
