The Prix Europa media awards, which recognise outstanding television, radio and online productions, were presented in Berlin. Slovak public broadcaster STVR was represented in the competition with its original radio play Balada o Etele by Michal Belej.
Drawing on his own life experiences, Belej created the play, which was produced by STVR’s Košice studio under the guidance of senior editor Hana Rodová.
STVR was also featured in the Audio Documentary category as the main subject of Slovak Lesson, a documentary produced by Czech Radio. The three-part series examines how political pressure is gradually weakening public-service media in Slovakia.
The Slovak and Czech productions were among 154 audio works nominated from a total of 600 entries submitted by 200 European productions.
