Salaries of Civil Servants to Go Up by 8.4 percent as of Next July

The salaries of civil servants will increase by 8.4 percent as of 1 July 2027, while their working hours will be reduced to 37.5 per week, according to higher-level collective agreements for the civil service signed on Tuesday.

The agreements also introduce several other benefits for civil servants, covering not only the remainder of this year but 2027 as well.

"Civil servants will also be entitled to extended annual leave of five to six weeks and two days off upon request," said the Government Office, also highlighting higher severance payments, set at one month's salary above the statutory requirements.

A contribution to supplementary pension savings will amount to 2 percent of the total payroll. The state is also guaranteeing a mandatory contribution to the social fund equivalent to 1 percent of the total payroll, which will be used to finance additional benefits and support for employees.

The package of benefits is divided into two successive agreements. The first covers the period from 15 October to 31 December 2026 and takes effect on 15 October 2026, guaranteeing the immediate introduction of social and occupational benefits before the end of this year. The second agreement, covering 2027 and taking effect on 1 January 2027, builds on the existing standards and supplements it with an agreed salary indexation as of mid-2027.
