Economy Minister Discussed US Energy Supplies

Slovak Economy Minister Denisa Saková (Hlas-SD) held talks with US officials in Washington on increasing American liquefied natural gas supplies to Europe and securing alternative oil imports. Representatives of Slovak energy companies SPP and Slovnaft also attended the meetings.

According to Saková, the US officials had expressed support for Slovakia’s plans to phase out Russian oil by the end of 2027. Discussions also focused on the Adria pipeline, currently considered Slovakia’s only plausible alternative oil supply route.

The minister also aimed to secure a long-term LNG contract to replace Russian gas before the EU’s planned import ban in fall 2027.
