Slovakia and Iceland are expanding cooperation in healthcare, mainly in mental health, prevention and medical education. Slovak Health Minister Kamil Šaško (Hlas-SD) met his Icelandic counterpart Alma Möller in Turčianske Teplice on Thursday, eight months after the two countries signed a cooperation agreement.
Both countries are preparing a series of expert events for 2027 focusing on mental health services, community-based care, eating disorders and the prevention of mental health problems among young people.
Cooperation also extends to medical research and education, with 178 Icelandic students currently studying at Comenius University’s medical faculty in Martin and around 200 Icelandic doctors having already graduated from the institution.
