Women in Slovakia earned an average of 15.6% less than men, with the gender pay gap growing significantly after having children, according to a survey presented at the Equal Pay Day conference.
The survey found that childless women earned an average of 1,212 euros net per month, comparable to men. However, their income dropped to 1,056 euros after having one child. Men’s earnings remained mostly unchanged regardless of parenthood.
The findings also showed that 45% of women were interested in part-time work during parental leave, but only 19% were offered the opportunity.
