Slovak students won 51 medals at 17 international academic olympiads and competitions during the 2025/2026 school year, including six gold, 20 silver and 25 bronze medals.
Students competed among others in mathematics, chemistry, biology, foreign languages and emerging fields such as artificial intelligence. Education Minister Tomáš Drucker praised their achievements and highlighted the importance of supporting young talent.
Slovak students also succeeded at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics in Hanoi, Vietnam, where they won four medals. Peter Švrlo secured gold and finished tenth overall, while Richard Dudek won silver and Jakub Prítrský and Igor Vargovič each received bronze.
The competition brought together participants from more than 60 countries.
