Speaker of Parliament Richard Raši received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Slovak Republic, Jassim Yaakob J. A. Al-Hamadi, at Parliament. The main topics of the meeting were the further development of Slovak-Qatari relations, investment cooperation, planned high-level political visits, and the current situation in the Middle East.
Raši welcomed the ambassador to Parliament and highlighted the friendly relations between Slovakia and Qatar. At the same time, he pointed to opportunities for further strengthening bilateral contacts.
“Slovakia and Qatar share friendly relations that we can continue to build on. We are interested in more intensive political dialogue as well as concrete projects that will create new opportunities for cooperation between our countries,” said Raši.
Particular attention was paid to investment cooperation. The Speaker of Parliament highlighted the potential for investment by Qatari companies in Slovakia and the opportunities offered by the Slovak economic environment to foreign investors.
“Slovakia is interested in attracting Qatari investment and presenting specific opportunities that could be of interest to Qatari companies and investors,” Raši said during the meeting.
The talks also addressed the situation in the Middle East. Speaker of Parliament Richard Raši praised Qatar’s active mediating role in the region and noted that the current conflict with Iran, through its security and economic consequences, is also affecting Europe.
“Qatar plays an important mediating role in the region. Developments in the Middle East do not concern only the countries of the region; their consequences are also being felt in Europe. This makes it all the more important to support diplomatic solutions and dialogue,” the Speaker of Parliament said.
Speaker of Parliament Richard Raši also invited the chairman of Qatar’s Shura Council to pay an official visit to Slovakia. He expressed the conviction that direct contacts at the parliamentary level could contribute to further strengthening relations between Slovakia and Qatar.
