Chladoňová Wins European Time Trial Bronze

Slovak cyclist Viktória Chladoňová won bronze in the women’s under-23 individual time trial at the European Championships in Slovenia on Wednesday. It is her second medal at this year’s European Championships, having also won bronze in Friday’s mass-start race.

Only two Dutch riders were faster than Chladoňová on the 22-kilometer course. Nienke Vinke won in 32:36.93, while Megan Arens took silver, 36.78 seconds behind. Chladoňová finished 42.11 seconds behind the winner. “It was a very challenging course, quite unusual for a time trial, but I think it suited me. I tried to give it everything, although after the descent I caught up with two riders and we got a little tangled up there, so perhaps that cost me a few seconds. But as I said, I gave it everything, my rivals were better, and I’m incredibly happy with third place,” Chladoňová told the Slovak Cycling Federation.

Another Slovak rider, Sofia Ungerová, finished 21st, 4:17.34 behind the winner.
