Slovak Agriculture Minister Richard Takáč (SMER-SD) on Monday welcomed his counterparts from the Visegrad Four and four other EU countries for a ministerial meeting in Bratislava. The V4+4 format brings together Slovakia, Czechia, Hungary and Poland, along with Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania and Slovenia. Italy’s Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida is attending as a special guest.
The ministers will continue their talks on Tuesday, when they are expected to sign joint declarations and hold a news conference. The meeting, held under Slovakia’s V4 presidency, aims to strengthen cooperation and develop common positions on shared challenges facing agriculture and the food sector, while giving the region a stronger voice at the European level. Slovakia says it wants to use its V4 presidency to promote practical solutions benefiting farmers and food producers.
