Štefan Horský, a veteran of Czechoslovak and Slovak Radio, has died at the age of 97. He worked for the broadcaster from 1952 until his retirement, starting as an editor and later becoming editor-in-chief of the news department. In 1966, he was involved in launching the popular morning programme Dobré ráno – Good Morning.
During the Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia in August 1968, Horský helped produce broadcasts for Free Radio. He was later dismissed, banned from publishing and transferred to a research department, where he focused on radio theory and research. He also authored several books about radio broadcasting and was known for supporting younger colleagues.
