Slovakia’s Foreign and European Affairs Ministry has launched the first stage of a new visa registration portal, designed to make applications for Slovak national visas more transparent and efficient. From October 1, Slovak universities and research institutions can use the RegVIS system to register students and researchers coming to Slovakia.
The portal checks submitted data for accuracy and duplicate applications before creating a list of eligible applicants. They will then be able to book appointments at the relevant visa centre, with bookings starting from November 1. The ministry says the system should also help coordinate visa-centre capacity and speed up processing. A second stage, expected in the coming months, will extend the portal to employers based in Slovakia.
