The public is sensible enough to understand what SNS Chairman Andrej Danko did on Tuesday evening, the Smer party stated; the party leadership met yesterday evening at the Government Office. Upon leaving, several party members confirmed that there would be no early elections and referred to the party's official position. In that statement, the party asserts that the actions of the Slovak National Party have pushed the governing majority to the brink, and that maintaining it will require immense effort.
"Smer-SD ... has not lost a single MP and recognises that, as the largest and most stable governing party, it cannot allow internal disputes between coalition partners to dominate government policy. Such disputes cannot overshadow the construction of hospitals, roads and a nuclear power source, the country's vision, economic growth, low unemployment or a peace-oriented sovereign foreign policy in all four cardinal directions," the party declared.
The opposition continues to maintain that early parliamentary elections are the solution to the crisis.
